iTunes import problem
A problem has started to occur using ez vinyl/tape converter to import audio files into iTunes. A dialog box appears saying that the track can't be imported because iTunes has an active window open: do I want to retry. Choosing 'yes' just causes the box to reappear and the only way to get out is to close the programme, losing the tracks recorded. There are no obvious iTunes windows open and I've made no changes to the software since before the problem occurred. Reinstalling the software doesn't make a difference. Nor does restarting iTunes. My laptop is running WIndows XP. Thanks

1Hey Mark check this option for me. ITunes must be set as the "DEFAULT MEDIA PLAYER."
- In iTunes the Default Media Player option is located in the Edit>Preferences>Advanced Tab.-

I have the same problem but am running Windows Vista and there is no place on that screen to make iTunes the Default Media Player. I just received Tape Express for Christmas and had the problem from the beginning.

-----This is from Apple's site----
[Changing the default media application]
Open iTunes.
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
Click the Advanced button and then click the General tab.
Click "Use iTunes as the default player for all audio files" to select this option. -

This option doesn't exist on this tab

I'm having the same problem but now I'm getting a warning that the "corefoundation.dll" cannot be found and this seems to be associated with the Apple sync. I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled plus I've uninstalled ez vinyl/tape converter and reinstalled it and still get the same problem. Getting pretty frustrated and still have 150 albums to convert.

That is a iTunes file. Uninstall the version of iTunes you have, restart, then install most current iTunes version http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

J Sandeen kept telling me to click 'Use iTunes as the default player for all audio files' however, on the page he kept telling me to go to there was NEVER this option. There was a box that said 'notify me if iTunes is not the default player'. I kept checking this box but it kept unchecking itself. Finally, one time, it stayed checked and when I opened iTunes it came up and gave me the message 'iTunes is not the default player' and gave me the option to open a window with ALL audio file extensions. So I made iTunes the default for all extensions. However, this did not fix the problem until I restarted my computer. After that I was able to convert tapes for the most part without problems. Please note: if you do not want iTunes as the default for .mp3 or other audio files you have to go to default programs and change it back to what you want. If you want to convert more tapes then you have to change it back to Itunes but be SURE to restart the computer. Finally got some of my tapes converted then the tape machine quit working. good luck to you.

if your operating system is Windows XP or higher and you do not see the screen in iTune, click on your window's tart button, then click on "Set program access and defaults". Then click on custom. Go to "Choose a default media player".

I really loved the idea of transferring all of my cassettes to digital but I guess that it was a lie!!!! I have put in almost 2 days worth of effort to try to get things transfered and I have roughly 30 tracks to show for it!!!! Transferring vinyl is a breeze compared to this!!!!! I have read all of the above ( I H8 itunes!!!!) but now I am trying to edit the track from 'temp2' to what I named it but cannot find how to do it. This is maddening!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In iTunes got to Preferences and Uncheck Sound Check, Sound Enhancer, and Crossfade Songs.
In the General tab, click Import Settings. Make sure Import Using is set to MP3 Encoder. Settings should be set to Higher Quality (192 kbps)
Go to the "Advanced" menu and check the boxes "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" and "Copy file to iTunes Media folder when adding to library".-
Unable to locate any "Sound Check, Sound Enhancer, and Crossfade Songs" in Preferences to uncheck. So, I guess this isn't an important part.

OK, I've been able to finally get things added to iTunes from vinyl but it's taking longer to add it to iTunes than it did to record it. Any way to speed that up?
By the way, it didn't used to do that but after it quit addiing albums to iTunes and I got that fixed, now it takes forever. At least I can still move them over as long as I'm not in any big hurry.-
It shouldn't take long to transfer. You updated to the latest iTunes correct? Feel free to call us if you need to:

FOR EZVINYL CONVERTER: At least in Windows 7, the problem here is that there is an iTunes process running in Windows memory even though iTunes itself is closed. The Converter software detects this as an open iTunes window.
If you open Windows Task Manager and click the "Processes" tab, you should find "APSDaemon.exe*32" (or possibly "APSDaemon.exe*64) running (both are described as being "Apple Push"). ("AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe may also be running.) Highlight the "APSDaemon.exe" file and click the "end process" button in the lower right corner of the box. This will close both Apple processes.
If you've had trouble with iTunes not starting when first clicked, this also solved that problem. I found this on the Apple iTunes when dealing with that problem. I believe it will work in Windows XP and Vista as well.- view 1 more comment

Very true - iTunes is usually pretty stable but problems can creep in, especially when there's been an update.

Try this.
--Select the Start Menu in the lower-left of the screen and open the Control Panel
--In the window that opens, double click the Programs and Features control panel.
--In the Programs and Features window, find iTunes in the list of programs and click it once to highlight it. Then click Change at the top of the window.
--In the window that opens, click Repair. When the process is complete, click Finish.
--Close the Control Panel window.
--Restart your computer (the changes won't take effect until it has been restarted). -
