Ion block rocker wont work unless plugged in SOLVED!

Recently i added a 12v socket to my old white block rocker so i could charge my iphone while its plugged into the aux jck since my ipod dock stopped working a few months after getting the block rocker. Well my socket worked great problem was the block rocker wouldnt work on battery power anymore i checked the battery and it had 12v. Then i contacted ION tech support which was a big waste of time! They said replace the battery if the battery is ok take it to have it serviced. Pointless so i was left to figure it out. I took it apart and saw a the power wire to the battery had heat shrink tubing on it. I cut the black tubing away to reveal a inline fuse that had blown. Bingo! So for about 30cents my ion block rocker is working again on battery power

  • Hello Josh,

I"m sorry to hear about the experience you had with tech support but nevertheless, they attempted to help you out. It appears they couldn't diagnose your issue without actually opening up the speaker according to your post. Our tech support agents do not recommend customers to open up and take apart their speaker unless the customer is knowledgeable of electronic circuits and understands the warranty policy, which prohibits that and surrenders the warranty. Tech Support possibly could've refereed you to have the speaker serviced from one of our authorized non warranty repair facilities instead of the battery replacement.

Nevertheless, I'm happy to hear that your speaker is working now and that you fixed your own issue. This information could be a helpful for future ION customers who experience similar symptoms. Thanks for posting.

My block rocker is over 2 years old so its out of warranty. I was really annoyed that tech support didnt tell me there was a inline fuse to the battery . When i had the issue i did a google search which led me to this forum with many people experiencing the same issue. I cant believe Tech support wouldnt tell someone you can check the inline fuse to the battery. I even told the tech guy in my first message the battery voltage was at 12v and his response was change the battery! So he obviously didnt read my email. If he was telling me to open my block rocker to change the battery he could have said pull the red wire and check the inline fuse under the black tube then replace if necessary recover with electric tape.
