Help! Ive got no sound from my speakers!
Just purchased a Profile Pro usb turntable with input. Installed the cd to my computer, hooked up power and usb cord to connect. It powers up and runs correctly, but no sound from my computer speakers. Can hear the faint noise from the needle, but why is it not coming through my computer speakers. Help! Directions tell me nothing.

Hello, it sounds like you have chosen the wrong devices. For recording you need to choose USB audio codec and then for playback your default sound card.

I have a similar issue with a ION Profile LP USB Turntable using either my Windows 7 laptop or my IMac that's running Tiger OS.

-
I have the same problem with 2 ion turntables. Its not the tt its just my limited knowledge on where to find the controls to change the codec settings. I honestly dont know where to look. I looked at the sound icon in control panel and got to the recording tab and there is no listing for usb audiocodec there is however a listing for usb microphone which i assume is the turntable. I have tried setting defaults.I can see the levels playing back in the itunes window bit cant hear out of the speakers.
There are not many inquires about this problem however maybe everyone else knows how to do it without runnung into playback through pc speakers...
Anyway if someone could give me step by step info it would be most appreciated...
I am using pc with quick play flash TT and am running windows vista premium 2
Realtek audio card. Speakers work fine on test modes except when trying to test them in the sound tab.
Thanks to anyone who could help.-
I did the same as you. I am running Windows XP. I would love to have this answer also!

Well Heidi I guess they will answer us when they get in on Monday. I just wish I knew how to change it. Everytime I fool with audacity or now this software my speakers go off and it takes me days to figure it out. Im sure its just my lack of knowledge. They are a good company so Im sure they will read and suggest solutions. We cant be the only ones this happens too..

When you hook this device up with a USB the computer might want to send audio back through this device for playback as well. Since this device is for 'Input' you will need to check your computer system preferences to make sure its not selected for output as well. Go to your control panel and select the audio device tab/icon. There you will see the input and output routing to and from your computer. ***Make sure the 'Profile' is the input device (might be label its generic name "USB Audio Codec") and your sound card is the output ***

Windows XP: Under Control Panel and Audio, I see Sound Playback. I assume this is the output. It is set to USB PnP Audio Device. Sound Recording (input?) is set the same. There is a down arrow to select SigmaTel Audio. This does not help. I have selected Line In not Microphone. There is also MIDI Music Playback. This is set to Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth, which is the only choice. Under the Audio Hardware tab, I see lots of options. ION TT is not listed. No matter what I click on, I cannot select anything other than the DVD player. I can hear the plyback through the TT. Is it really necessary to hear the music through my speakers?

Heidi In your device list you would want the input to be the TT and the output to be your audio card or built in speakers. If you would like you can go to the audio device section and drop down the input screen and output screen and take a screen shot so you can post for me to see.
In windows you can take a picture of what you see on your screen doing this:
Click the window you want to capture. Press Alt+Print Screen by holding down the Alt key and then pressing the Print Screen key. The Print Screen key is near the upper-right corner of your keyboard. (Depending on the type of keyboard you have, the exact key names on your keyboard may vary slightly.)
-----AFTER THE IMAGE IS CAPTURED----
Click Start, click Accessories, and then click Paint.
In the Paint window, click Edit, and then click Paste.
When the image appears in the Paint window, click File, and then click Save As.
In the Save As dialog box, in the File name box, type a name for the screen shot, and then click Save.
You can now print or email the saved screen shot just like you would any other picture. -

You should be able to select "USB AUDIO CODEC" as a 'sound playback' selection to send audio out of the turntables rca outputs. When you unplug the turntable does the 'USB PnP Audio Device" option disappear? I see some video stuff on there too are you using a video/web cam on this computer?
Also on the last two pages you have pictured can you select the USB audio device at the bottom and look at what the device properties status says? -

Thanks to Heidi and J for all the help, None of the screens matched mine in Windows Vista however by reading through it all I now realize which devices have to be on and off and how to access them. I have started transferring all the records I was lucky enough to have played drums on..... It is bringing back some good old memories. Thanks for a great product. I am using the QUICK FLASH PLAYER.

Hey J I have another question....
As I am copying my 45 rpm's to the pc the auto stop on th Quck Play flash stops before the record is over. Songs in those days were typically 2 min 30 seconds or so so Idont think it is the length.
Is there a way to disable the auto stop? I really need to do this as it is cutting off the ends of the songs...
Thanks again for your help

I have found that if you open EZ Vinyl Tape Converter Software(included with turntable) and not hit record button, sound can be heard. You still have to select proper output (your speakers) and input for recording (microphone usb audio codec).

I'm having a similar problem with a Quick Play LP using Windows Vista. The Sound controls are set up completely different from Windows XP and I can't see anything that lets me choose codecs or anything like that.
Also, for some reason after I recorded some songs no sound will come out of my speakers unless I'm playing music from iTunes. I can't get sound to work with any other programs. What is happening? -
-
can someone please explain this in plain english? act as if you were trying to tell a 5 year old how to do it. I'm running windows 7 and using the EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter and no matter how i mess around with the speaker settings, i can't get any sound at all! I'm so frustrated, I'm trying to help set this thing up for my mother and I'm only in town until tomorrow morning :( please tell me there are some night owls out there??
-
The only way I was able to get sound to computer speakers or headphones was to open the EZ Vinyl/Converter software and click thru until I got to the screen with the record button. Did not have to record to listen. Just make sure your speakers are selected and microphone not USB device in your sound properties.

I agree--this is the only way I could get it to play, and then it sounds great. Any other ideas for Windows Vista users?
