I’m frustrated

EZ vinyl tape converter software not working anymore!

Hi all,

I'm looking for some help! I've had my Vinyl Forever for 4 years and have had no trouble with using it before; but now it the software isn't picking up any sound. The sound is getting to the device, and I've checked and tightened all my usb ports. I've also uninstalled the software and reinstalled the latest version, 11.7.

There is one odd thing; when I start up EZ I get a tiny window under the main one, it has the logo on the left, a full screen icon in the middle and the shut down x on the right, but is unresponsive. Never seen it before when everything was working!

The software opens ok, but no sound levels show at step 2, and if I click on record the timer doesn't start.

I'm half wondering if it's the fault of the latest Windows update, I've also had trouble with other things and had to do a system restore a while back to get Google Earth to work.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

    Thanks for posting. Sorry you're having issues with your EZVC software. 

    What version of Windows are you using with your software? Have you tried using another computer with your software and tape player/turntable? If you have, do you experience the same issue?

    I'm using Windows 10 version 1803 os build 17134.165, 64bit, updated on 27th June.

    Unfortunately I can't try it with another computer.

  • Have you tried using a different USB port and cable with your converter? If you have and you're still having issues, you may need to service your product.

    Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the ION Audio Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

    Yes, I've tried all 3 USB ports, and a different USB cable, with no result.

    I've done a system restore and it hasn't worked, but I couldn't go back as far as I wanted to. For some reason I wasn't offered many restore points and the furthest I could go back was the end of June. I wanted to go back to the middle of May, the last time I know it was working.

    I suspect the problem lies with Windows, and may be something to do with settings and the mysterious tiny window behind the main one when I open the software. (Screen shot included.)

    I don't know if it's worth contacting the service centre, I contacted Ion audio support twice before I found this forum and never heard from them.

    In any case I've had it for 4 years, but I have a feeling that if I got a new one it wouldn't work anyway!

    Don't know what to do now!

    Well Bill, I've looked at the support site to enquire about having the device serviced and guess what? Vinyl Forever isn't on the drop down list of products, although it was when I first contacted them 2 weeks ago! I've left them another message but to be honest I'm wondering if there's anyone there.

    So unless you can come up with something else I may as well chuck it in the bin!

    PS, if I have to buy another one it will be a different make!
